Students will work on core high school writing skills, including narrative, informative, and persuasive writing. Students will produce a narrative piece imitating an author’s style and/or achieving a particular effect, an analytical piece examining an author’s style, and a persuasive piece developing a unique definition. Individual guidance, a computer lab setting, models, journaling, sentence practice, outlining, pre-writing, guided revision and peer editing enhance the writing process as students learn about writing styles and work on their own voice. Students’ final products include one narrative piece, one paragraph, and one essay.
