Do you wonder how 3D printing and computer assisted design programs work? This is the camp for you! Students will use TinkerCAD’s online software to create and print their own builds and learn how to troubleshoot issues that may arise in printing. This course is great for beginners, as well as students who have more experience.

Program Overview:

  • Getting familiar with TinkerCAD: Basics of navigating the software, creating simple shapes, and combining them
  • Design principles: Understanding how designs translate into 3D prints, including basic concepts like dimensions and shapes
  • Design challenges: Engaging exercises to create basic objects using TinkerCAD, gradually increasing complexity
  • Introduction to slicing: Understanding the concept and its importance in preparing designs for printing
  • Hands-on practice: Guided sessions on designing simple objects step-by-step and preparing them for printing using TinkerCAD's interface
  • Safety guidelines: Understanding how to operate 3D printers safely and responsibly
  • Troubleshooting: Common issues and how to solve them when working with TinkerCAD designs and 3D printers

*Projects may include: nameplates, keychains, adding a drawing to a shape, printing parts that fit into other parts, logo design, and more
