Video Announcement

Dear Landon Summer families,

I hope you are staying safe and healthy during this difficult time. I am writing to share that Landon Summer has made the difficult decision to cancel all on-campus programs for Summer 2020. Every decision we have made along the way has been to exhaust all options and do everything we can to fulfill our promise to you. We very much appreciate your overwhelming support and the trust that you put in us to protect the well-being of your children. We are deeply saddened that we are not able to have them join us this summer.

Next week, we will begin the process of canceling registrations and issuing full refunds to your original form of payment. Please note the following:

  • Email us if you made a payment with a card that is now inactive.
  • Log in to your Landon Summer account at any time to check your financial details.
  • Allow us a window of approximately five weeks to complete this complex process.
  • A Landon Summer team member will be in touch with you via email to inform you when your refund has been processed.

We thank you in advance for your patience. We are still committed to upholding Landon Summer’s mission this summer and are offering a meaningful, engaging summer experience for campers through online instruction. You can visit our website to register and learn more about our online programs for 2020.

Thank you,

Dear Landon Summer families,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult time.

We have made the decision to cancel all on-campus programs that were scheduled to occur between June 8–July 2 (weeks 0–3). These programs will all be fully refundable. Refunds, for camps scheduled between June 8–July 2, will be processed over the next couple of weeks. The decision to cancel was made with your family’s safety and well-being in mind, along with guidance from national, state, and local health authorities. All year long, we plan, prepare, and excitedly await our campers’ summer arrival through our white rocks on campus. We are saddened because we know how much camp means to our campers and how much they need it in today’s world. However, as difficult as this decision is to hear, we are confident that this is the right approach for the health of our campers, staff, and the safety of the greater Washington area.

Policy Updates

  • We have adjusted our cancellation policy for the rest of the 2020 season. Families will be able to cancel their camp registrations any time prior to the respective pay-in-full date and receive a full refund.
  • We have adjusted our pay-in-full date for families who remain enrolled. Full payment will be due the Monday before a scheduled session begins. For example, the week of July 6–10's full payment would be due June 29.

Refunds
We will begin issuing refunds for canceled camps over the next couple of weeks. We ask for your patience. A Landon Summer team member will be in touch with you via email to provide an update on your refund once it has been processed. You may log in to your Landon Summer account at any time to check your financial details.

Online Programming
Based on suggestions from our recent survey, we are developing new programs as well as transitioning some of our current programs to online platforms. If your camper is currently registered for a program that moves online, parents may choose to remain enrolled or cancel to receive a full refund.

Please expect to hear from us by mid-June with updated information and a decision about the remaining weeks of camp.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Thomas

Dear Landon Summer families,

I write with some updates and details on Landon Summer’s efforts to ready ourselves for any changes that the coronavirus pandemic may bring about this summer. We appreciate your patience as we work through changing circumstances with a measured and thoughtful approach. As information is changing quickly, we are still closely monitoring the situation and regularly reviewing and updating our policies to ensure that we stay current with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state, and local recommendations to keep our campers and staff safe.

We have made the following updates to our policies:

  • The deadline for paying in full and for cancellations has been extended from May 4 to May 22.
  • Our regular cancellation and refund policies are still in effect. Should you wish to cancel your camp registration at this time, the deposit is non-refundable.
  • If Landon Summer cancels your registered camp session because of the coronavirus and is unable to provide a reasonable alternative, any deposit or prepaid tuition will be refunded.

We are still committed to upholding Landon Summer’s mission - to inspire children to build their confidence and explore their passions in a vibrant, nurturing camp environment that emphasizes community, discovery, independence, and fun. Therefore, we are working on creating an online summer program as a backup plan that will support families, teach children new skills, and provide opportunities for social and emotional development. Additionally, we are aware that the majority of our campers will not be returning to their physical classrooms during this academic year. We are reviewing our academic offerings to meet the changing needs of our families and considering how we can increase our academic focus.

We ask that you please take a moment to complete the below survey to let us know your thoughts as we develop an alternate summer 2020 program. This will greatly guide our decision-making process as we plan for this summer.

Dear Landon Summer families,

We understand right now there is a lot of uncertainty with the rapidly evolving coronavirus situation. As we hear more about the impact that COVID-19 is having on our daily lives, allow me to share some updates from Landon Summer.

We are working to be appropriately careful with a situation that is highly uncertain and the health and safety of our campers, staff, and surrounding community is our highest priority. Our team is continuing to meet regularly to ensure we are being responsive to the information coming out about the coronavirus. Landon Summer is following the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as county and state health authorities on responding to the virus.

At this time, Landon Summer is three months or more away and we are optimistic that camp will occur as scheduled. However, we want to be up front and share with you that if Landon Summer cancels your registered camp session due to the coronavirus and is unable to provide a reasonable alternative, full camp tuition will be refunded.

Please know that you are important to us. We promise to keep you updated when more final decisions are made and we have definite answers for you about this summer. We have created a webpage that will provide all policies, procedures and changes as our plans develop.
