Middle School Math Tune Up

What to bring: Computer with webcam and microphone capability, WiFi access, notebook, pencils
Help set up your child for success next school year! In this class, students will receive a review of the fundamental material of their previous year’s math class, with a focus on topics likely covered during online distance learning. Foundational middle school math topics serve as the building block concepts for the rest of a student’s math career! Checkpoint assessments will be administered throughout the course to receive feedback and ensure mastery of the weekly material. Homework problems to be performed outside of class.
- Rising 6th graders: Fractions, place value, operations with multi-digit whole numbers and decimals, converting measurements, graphing points on coordinate planes
- Rising 7th graders: Ratios, fractions, evaluating expressions, equations and inequalities
- Rising 8th graders: Pre-algebra – positive and negative numbers, the number system, ratios, equations and inequalities, graphing, geometry, probability

Teacher bio: Ryan Callahan is an Upper School mathematics teacher and cross country/track coach at Landon. He has taught numerous math classes at Landon for the past three years including AP Statistics, Calculus, and Advanced Precalculus. He graduated from Emory University with a degree in mathematics and political science and started his teaching career at Ben Franklin Academy in Atlanta, GA.
Fun fact: Mr. Callahan is an avid Philadelphia 76ers and Eagles fan.
