PREREQUSITE: Completion of at least one full calendar year of band or private instruction. Students must also be proficient in sight-reading.
For 36 years, Landon Summer’s Band Clinics have enriched the musical experience of young musicians from elementary grades through high school. This camp is designed for serious music students who are experienced with their instrument and fluent in sight-reading. Each wind instrumentalist or percussionist has the opportunity to participate in concert band in the morning and jazz band in the afternoon. Proper playing position, pitch and rhythm precision, tone development, musical technique and interpretation are emphasized. In addition, students learn music theory and improvisation. The week culminates with a spectacular Friday concert for family and friends at 11 a.m. showcasing the group’s talent. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 pandemic precautions, family and friends are not permitted on campus to watch our performance, but a recording will be available.
